Antique Chest of drawers – French Empire Semainier in Mahogany, ca. 1825
This antique chest of drawers is a French Empire semainier, made circa 1825–1830 in beautiful mahogany with stunning gilt bronze ormolu details. It has a drawer for each day of the week – seven drawers in total. It’s functional and fabulous.
Black marble top, symmetrical façade with mahogany flame veneer, original gilt bronze ring pulls and escutcheons, fluted columns with brass capitals and bases. Neoclassical influence is the hallmark of the Empire style, which brought grandeur, order and refinement to 19th century furniture.
Seven original locks and seven working keys – a rare and valuable feature. Despite its age, it’s in excellent condition, professionally restored and hand polished with shellac. The surface is warm and the structure is solid and ready to use.
