Antique Chest of drawers – Early 19th Century Louis XVI Style in Walnut
This beautiful antique chest of drawers from the early 19th century Louis XVI period is a German neoclassical masterpiece. Dated around 1800 it is made from high quality walnut with inlays and a curved shape that exudes timeless elegance.
The chest has three large drawers, each slightly bowed and divided into three panelled sections with original brass ring pulls and box locks. The walnut veneer is mirrored across the surfaces with plumwood inlay ribbons that add to the symmetry. The top is slightly curved to match the front, showing attention to proportion and detail.
The side panels are inlaid with large fielded sections for visual balance and architectural interest. It stands on four rounded feet and is fully functional with three working locks and matching keys so can be used for both display and daily use.
