Early 19th Century Cherrywood Secretaire
An elegant early 19th-century secretaire crafted from beautifully figured cherrywood. This refined piece exemplifies the restrained elegance and craftsmanship typical of Central European furniture from the Biedermeier period.
The exterior is veneered with carefully selected cherrywood displaying a warm honey tone and striking symmetrical grain patterns, which enhance the sculptural character of the piece. The gently curved upper cornice and balanced proportions give the secretaire a harmonious and sophisticated presence.
The fall-front opens to reveal a well-organised interior fitted with multiple small drawers, pigeonholes and a central compartment, providing practical storage for correspondence and writing implements. Below, three spacious drawers offer additional storage and are decorated with characteristic diamond-shaped escutcheons.
The piece stands on elegant tapered legs, completing the light and balanced silhouette. The secretaire has undergone professional restoration and presents beautifully while retaining its historical character and charm.
