Description

An exceptional and refined tall cabinet designed by Raymond Sobota for Century Furniture of Distinction, dating to the 1970s. This elegant piece embodies the sophisticated fusion of Asian-inspired aesthetics with American mid-century craftsmanship, resulting in a timeless and highly decorative form.

The cabinet is beautifully proportioned, standing at 198 cm in height, 97 cm in width, and 47 cm in depth, making it both imposing and versatile for a variety of interiors—from private residences to distinguished office spaces.

The façade is exquisitely crafted in ash burl veneer, displaying a rich and expressive grain pattern, while the sides are finished in warm walnut veneer. The composition is further accentuated by ebonised framing elements, adding depth and a subtle architectural rhythm to the overall design. Original brass handles provide a refined contrast and underline the cabinet’s luxurious character.

The upper section features a pair of doors opening to a spacious compartment with an adjustable shelf, ideal for storage or display. Below, two large doors reveal a well-organised interior fitted with open shelving and four drawers, offering practical storage solutions. An additional large drawer is integrated into the base, enhancing functionality.

This piece has been crafted with exceptional attention to detail and reflects the high standards associated with Century Furniture. It remains in very good vintage condition, presenting minor signs of age consistent with its history.

A striking and highly functional statement piece, perfect for collectors and connoisseurs of distinctive mid-century design with exotic influences.
