Description

Stunning 19th Century Wall Mirror – Biedermeier, Vienna, circa 1830

A remarkable and beautifully restored wall mirror from the esteemed Biedermeier period, originating from Vienna and dating to around 1825–1830. Built on a traditional spruce wood substructure, the mirror is adorned with a thick walnut veneer showcasing a striking and decorative grain. Even the outer edges have been meticulously veneered, reflecting the superb craftsmanship of the era.

The mirror retains its original glass plate, which, after more than 200 years, bears natural signs of ageing such as minor flaking, patina, and light surface scratches. These do not affect the functionality or charm of the piece – on the contrary, they enhance its authenticity and historical character.

The surface has been finished with a classic hand-polished shellac, giving it a deep, elegant sheen. The reverse side remains enclosed with the original wooden boards.
