Description

A refined Biedermeier chest of drawers crafted in beautifully figured birch, dating to around 1820 and made in Germany. The piece exemplifies the restrained elegance and architectural clarity characteristic of the Biedermeier period.

The façade displays a striking natural birch grain with a warm, softly toned surface. The upper section is crowned with a pediment-like element decorated with a dentil frieze, adding a classical architectural accent.

The chest features three spacious drawers. The top drawer is fitted with a lock and key, while the central locking system secures the lower drawer as well. The escutcheons are crafted from horn, adding a refined and distinctive detail.

The lower drawer is subtly shaped with a gentle wave form, creating a dynamic visual rhythm across the front. The façade is further enhanced by elegant full columns on both sides, giving the chest a strong architectural presence.

The piece rests on solid block feet and has been carefully restored and traditionally hand-polished with shellac, preserving its authentic historical character and beautiful natural patina.

A sophisticated and highly decorative example of early 19th-century German Biedermeier craftsmanship, ideal for collectors and lovers of classical European furniture.
