Description

An elegant Biedermeier side table, crafted in Austria around 1830, representing the refined simplicity and outstanding craftsmanship typical of the early 19th century.

The table is beautifully veneered in cherrywood, displaying a warm tone and attractive natural grain. The rectangular top is finely veneered and features a fall-front mechanism, opening to reveal a well-organised interior designed for storing small personal items or writing accessories.

Inside, the compartment includes a small box with three drawers and an additional divided section on the left side, allowing for practical organisation. The compartment is lockable, adding both functionality and historical authenticity.

The corpus stands on elegant, slender legs that gently taper towards the bottom, a classic characteristic of Biedermeier design that gives the piece a light and harmonious proportion.

The table has been carefully and professionally restored, preserving its historic character. The surface has been hand-polished with traditional shellac, which enhances the depth and beauty of the cherrywood veneer.

This refined piece perfectly reflects the functional elegance and understated luxury of the Biedermeier period, making it ideal both as a decorative accent in a sophisticated interior and as a practical occasional or writing table.
