An elegant Empire demi-lune console cabinet crafted in walnut veneer, dating to around 1810 and likely originating from the region of Passau. This refined piece perfectly embodies the restrained elegance and balanced proportions characteristic of early 19th century Empire furniture.
The semi-circular form is crowned with a beautiful beige-yellow marble top, which adds both visual lightness and sophistication. Below the top sits a single drawer fitted with its original box lock and working key, providing practical storage for smaller items.
The front is defined by a convex cabinet door, also equipped with its original box lock and key, opening to reveal a compartment with a single interior shelf. The vertical lines of the piece are accentuated by slender pilaster-like lisenes adorned with fine brass appliqués and brass key escutcheons, subtle decorative elements that enrich the otherwise restrained Empire aesthetic.
The cabinet stands on four elegant tapered legs, giving the piece a light and harmonious architectural presence. Inside the marble slab, a marking—possibly indicating Passau—can still be seen, suggesting the regional origin of the piece.
This console cabinet remains in a very good, authentic condition with a beautiful, residential patina. The original polish has been preserved, highlighting the warm tone and natural grain of the walnut veneer.
Compact yet visually striking, this early 19th century Empire demi-lune cabinet is both a functional storage piece and a highly decorative accent for sophisticated interiors.
