This refined pair of Gustavian-style sideboards perfectly embodies the calm elegance and harmonious proportions characteristic of Swedish Neoclassicism from the early 19th century. Crafted from oak and partly walnut, the pieces display outstanding craftsmanship and the restrained grace typical of the Gustavian aesthetic.
Each sideboard features two drawers above double doors framed with delicate mouldings. Both the drawers and doors are fitted with original working locks and keys. The surfaces are finished in a pale blue-grey tone with a beautifully aged patina that enhances their historical character. The decorative laurel wreath motifs on the front panels were carefully hand-painted, faithfully recreated based on preserved fragments of the original painting, restoring the furniture’s authentic charm and stylistic coherence.
Standing on short, turned feet, the sideboards combine lightness of form with structural solidity. Their subtle finish and muted colour palette give them a timeless, tranquil presence. Presented as a pair, they form an exceptionally harmonious and decorative ensemble, radiating a distinct Scandinavian character.
