A handsome original Neoclassical chest of drawers, crafted in richly figured walnut veneer and dating to the early 19th century. The piece displays elegant proportions and refined decorative details, making it an excellent example of Classical cabinetmaking.
The overhanging top sits above three generously sized drawers, each beautifully panelled and framed with delicate banded marquetry. The centre of the façade is accentuated by a projecting riser, creating an attractive architectural focal point that enhances the chest’s balanced composition.
The side panels are equally refined, featuring large veneered fields bordered by matching banded marquetry, demonstrating the high quality of craftsmanship from every angle. The chest retains its original brass hardware, original box locks, and all three original keys.
The cabinet has been sympathetically restored and traditionally hand-polished with shellac, bringing out the rich depth and warmth of the walnut veneers while preserving its authentic antique character. It stands on elegant tapered feet, completing its timeless Neoclassical silhouette.
