Description

The cabinet features a beautifully shaped door centred by an elegant floral bouquet inlaid in contrasting veneers, demonstrating the remarkable craftsmanship associated with the finest French cabinetmakers of the period. The marquetry is framed by carefully arranged crossbanded veneers, ebony stringing and delicate geometric inlays.

The shaped rouge marble top sits above a serpentine-front cabinet adorned with finely cast gilt-bronze mounts, including foliate appliqués, decorative escutcheon and a pierced apron. The rich combination of exotic veneers creates a striking contrast of warm honey, amber and deep rosewood tones.

Raised on shaped feet with gilt-bronze sabots, this sophisticated cabinet offers practical interior storage while serving as an exceptional decorative statement piece. Elegant proportions, luxurious materials and refined marquetry make it an excellent example of French Louis XVI Revival furniture from the Belle Époque period. Similar French corner cabinets of the period were frequently decorated with kingwood, tulipwood marquetry, ormolu mounts and marble tops.
